Children depicted the events of September 11th directly and vividly. September 11th was a turbulently emotional day in New York City public schools. In some Queens and Brooklyn schools in which we work, students and staff looked out of their windows to see the hijacked planes smash into the Twin Towers. In other schools in downtown Manhattan, students and staff spent the morning trying to escape collapsing buildings and blinding clouds of smoke. |
